Funding
The overall cost of installing floodlights is of course variable depending on the size of the project. The number of tennis courts, or size of area involved will dictate the quantity of columns and light fittings. The required lighting levels that need to be achieved will govern the type of light fittings to be used along with the correct lamp type. Speaking with a contractor at an early stage will allow for a rough estimate to be established prior to a site inspection.
Once an outline budget is established, the funding process can begin. Club funds may be substantial enough to pay for the entire project. Likely as not, some outside assistance will be needed.
The LTA offers various funding packages via loans and grants (through their Club Vision initiative) to help towards capital tennis projects, thus assisting with the overall development of Tennis in the UK. The National Lottery (Sport England) is another possible source of grant funding. In both cases up to 50% of the overall cost will have to be met by the club.
